Management By Objectives

Review and appraisal of performance

Regular performance review is one among the primary functions of MBO. The main focus of the performance review is on: • performance • improvement • future corrective action • frequency of reviews • self-appraisal This step involves periodic review of progress between manager and the subordinates. Such reviews would determine if the progress is satisfactory or the subordinate is facing some problems. Performance appraisal at these reviews should be conducted, based on fair and measurable standards. There should be proper interaction and communication at different levels. The objectives set by the department may be higher than the expectations of the higher management but still they may not merge with the objectives of other branches of the company.
